Organist John VanderLaan
John VanderLaan was born in the Netherlands and received his first organ lessons from Rienk Sytsma in Harkema. He then continued his studies at the Royal Academy of Music in Leeuwarden. In 1975 he immigrated to Canada and continued taking organ lessons from Fred Numan, André Knevel, Lyn Harry, and John Laing. John is in his 32nd year as one of the organists at the Ancaster Christian Reformed Church in Ancaster, ON, and he is also the accompanist of the Hosanna Choir with whom he has been associated since it was founded. John considers himself a hobby organist and likes to share his God given talents with those who attend the various musical events and church services that he participates in. John and his wife Anne have three sons and they reside in Ancaster, ON.
